Journey back to ME.

My battle with stress, and anxiety.

Premenstrual dysphoric disorder or PMDD is a condition associated with severe emotional and physical problems that are linked closely to the menstrual cycle. Symptoms occur regularly in the second half of the cycle and end when menstruation begins or shortly thereafter. PMDD is not just a new name for premenstrual syndrome (PMS), a condition that affects as many as 75% of menstruating women. It is, however, considered to be a very severe form of PMS that affects about 5% of menstruating women. Both PMDD and PMS share symptoms in common that include

depression, anxiety, tension, irritability and moodiness. What sets PMDD apart is its severity. Women with PMDD find that it has a very disruptive effect on their lives. Please read on to get more information about PMDD -- what it is, how it is diagnosed and how it is treated.

For a second I wanted to educate everyone. Pmdd is one of the most common but unfound problems with women today. It goes over looked and with me it did as well till the day before my last doc appt last week. On that day I did some research on the on my stress, anxiety, panic disorder.. What I found was very informational. After that I decided to research some meds ones that my friends had been put on. See they wanted me to take another med along with the one I already take.

As I looked up Zoloft I also found that most women that suffer from Pmdd also take this. It sent a red flag and I set out to find out what this was. It began to make sense.. The way I had felt for some years and then now having this panic / stress ./ anxiety disorder. I started to wonder how many other women also suffer from this.

I went to the doctor and asked if she thought I had this disorder. That's when she told me she has though she didn't want to alarm me that's why even though my tubes were tied she wanted me to take birth control. She wanted to see if that would make a difference because usually women with Pmdd are perscribed to take birth control till they hit menopause..

So this past week and weekend I haven't had good days. Mostly because I chose not to take the birth control this month.. and it has made for a very hard month / pms time. I have pills on hand for Sunday/tomorrow. I plan to keep taking that.. I have found sometimes we have to do our own research to find out what is going on with us. We can trust and depend on our doctors, yet they do not know what or how we feel all the time .. WE DO. So keep in mind that sometimes you have to do work on your part also to keep you feeling good and healty.

I plan to post PMDD sytoms, and treatment in my group. If you haven't joined please do.. The link is located in my last journal.. It's for all moms ... its a place were we can talk, trust, and be supported. Where we can start to work on US....

I hope you all are having a great weekend.. Hang in there there is always HOPE. I am staying home tonight while my husband takes the kids out. First year I have had to.. Halloween scares me this year as does all the movies and all. I am told it is because if the depth of it all. If you knew be before this you would know that I once was a deep thinking, and nothing scared me.. Not even horror movies. This disorder can really turn you around. I am getting better I know I am one day at a time and you are too .. just believe in yourself!!

Hugs ... and loves to all you mom's... your special people!
