So DH calls this morning and starts the call by saying: First off, I'm fine! (WHAT THE HELL! WHY DOES HE FEEL THE NEED START ANY CONVERSATION THIS WAY!) I was in the ER all night! (COMPLETE FREAK OUT!)
Apparently, they got a call last night at midnight! Frank goes to the pole to slide down (its a three story station and the pole starts above the bay. Frank steps through and all the sudden has NO grip on the pole. He freefalls through the ceiling shield and down the entire of the pole to the floor. He has enough sense as this is happening to let go of the pole with his legs. He lands full force on his feet and then falls into the fire truck parked beside the pole.
He stands up telling everyone he's okay and gets into the truck and DRIVES to the fire. He starts to make entry with his team, when he realizes that he can barely walk. He tells the captian he can't make entry and goes back to the engine and sits down and then waits for the fire to be over.
When they get back to the station, he removes his boots and his feet swell up and turn bright red. So he gets the captian to take him to the ER. They do xrays and LUCKILY he did not break anything, but he has sprained both ankles, and has deep bruising down to the bone. (but he refuses the CAT scan to check for a concusion although he had a headache all night!)
And he never CALLS me at all!
And if this isn't bad enough, he then gets up this morning and instead of coming home and resting, he goes to work at the ambulance like everything is perfectly fine!
What is he thinking? It just drives me crazy that he is not the least bit concerned about WHY this happened and won't even let them check him correctly and is STILL working!
Comments:
I think he didnt call so you would not get too nervous and he was kind of "feeling fine".....But OMG!!!! It really sounds like somethig my Husband would do too!!! and my father!!!!
Thank God it wasnt worse BUT now you have to work on convincing him to go to the hospital and get the tests done!!! Bribe him, tell him to do it for the girls!! LOL
LOl is your hubby related to mine ? ( mine is a volunteer FF) when he got hurt an was takeing to the ER by the squad he waited to call me so our friend another FF came told me an took me to the ER I swear men think that they will be just fine an that at that moment in time us wives dont need to know! Glad He Is OK!!
I think yours is second cousin to my husband, a police officer. I will NEVER forget the morning he walked in about a year ago and casually announced he'd been shot (at, the soldier missed by a mile) the previous night.
