Adoption is very near and dear to my heart. Eleven of my 12 kids came to my by way of adoption. My husband and I adopted them from within the foster care system. They were waiting there with all parental rights terminated. Many others wait. I have decided that since this is National Adoption Month, I want to help to get the stories and needs of these children out there. I want people to realize that adoption isn't a second class way to build a family. I want them to realize that I didn't adopt bc I couldn't give birth, but instead bc it was a dream that God put in my heart as a child. I would love to someday live in a world where no one walks up to me and asks rude and intrusive questions in front of my kids, but more than that I would love to live in a world that is different. I would love to see children realize their worth, have a place to belong, be safe, and grow up with a family who will look forward to loving their children as well. The importance of a permanent family for these children cannot be stressed enough. I'll tell you all more of our story later in another journal, but for tonight please read this article.
Thanks for taking the time and I pray that God opens your hearts and minds!

This is exactly how adoption should be looked at!!I have treasured every minute of both my adoptive journey to my daughter and my son!I think there are way less bumps in the road if you start out with the view that adoption is it's own parenting experience not a substitution.Thank you so much for this post!!
