From the mind of Liz

ramblings of a burnt out mom

This looks like an amazingly wonderful documentary on the disease and how what we put in our mouths can make ALL the difference! I wish more doctors would embrace nutrition and lifestyle changes as what diabetics need to do to CURE themselves, instead of relying SO heavily on pharmaceuticals.

PLEASE watch this video clip about the documentary, its so informative and inspirational and I hope if any of you moms out there are struggling with diabetes, that you will have the strength and the courage to do what these documentary participants are doing to help rid themselves of diabetes.

Liz, I just wanted to say that this applies to type 2 diabetes which is a metabolic disorder. Type 1 diabetes however, is an autoimmune disorder, and can not be cured through diet and exercise.

I also want to add that even type 2 can be controlled through diet, but that's not the same as a cure. Patientscan essentially go into remission, but there is no research to indicate that with lifestyle changes alone this change is permanent.

Struggling with my diabetic husband who is unable to control his disease through lifestyle changes has led me to research this topic quite extensively. And first hand experience confirms that strength and courage alone can't make your body function properly.

The word cure is thrown around and adds to the guilt so many diabetics carry. Walk a  mile in my shoes.

Oh goodness, I wasnt trying to make anyone feel bad or quilty, I was just sharing the video which I found fascinating, and I do believe in the power of our foods and what we put in our mouths impacting our bodies...some will believe its a cure, some will not...I like to believe that EVERYTHING has a cure out there somewhere!
