For my 21st birthday my mom purchased two Rob Thomas tickets as a gift to me and since she bought them I figured she should go with me. :) The concert was Halloween night and thankfully, Olivia was born in time that I didn't have a problem attending.
The concert started at 8 and was at the wonderful and always stunning Fox Theater in St. Louis. We left the house a little after 6 and were able to easily find a parking spot when we arrived around 7ish. On our way there my mom mentioned that she had heard that Rob Thomas dresses up for his Halloween concerts and said "Wouldn't it be neat if he dressed up as Michael Jackson and sang "Thriller"?" We had a good laugh.. lol Carolina Liar and OneRepublic were supposed to open for Rob Thomas, but due to illness OneRepublic wasn't able to perform. :(
The first thing we did when we arrived was got in line for the merchandise table. Tshirts were super expensive but I was able to get a neat Rob Thomas keychain and Carolina Liar's CD for pretty cheap. Then we went and found our seats.. we had a GREAT view of the stage! Isn't the architecture amazing?

Mark Von Em performed in place of OneRepublic. He's a singer/songwriter who sings back up for Rob Thomas and he was really good! I'll post a little video snipet of his performance at the bottom.

Then Carolina Liar performed and they were GREAT! Since it was a Halloween they were all dressed up and OMG.. I seriously think I have a new favorite rock band. They were great.. definitely check them out. I'll post a video of them as well and in the sidebar of the Youtube video will be links to their websites.Sorry these pics are blurry I was zoomed ALL the way in. Hopefully my mom got clearer photos with her camera so I can post those later. :)

Then there was a short intermission (by this time it was about 9 pm) and Carolina Liar was in the lobby signing autographs.. but people were everywhere walking around so we just waited patiently and listened to the music they had blaring over the speakers (Including The Tink Tinks!) My mom and I complained about the people sitting around us.. lol There were these two middle-aged chicks sitting behind us that thought they were still 16. They were both dressed over-the-top in sparkly club-type outfits and had already had WAY too many drinks, and so were screaming at the top of their lungs and barking like dogs during the music (not even kidding). I had a headache by the end of the night because of them. The people sitting in front of us were hilarious. There were two couples, both in their late 50's early 60's and during the entire concert they just SAT there.. no movement whatsoever.. except out of one lady who got excited when Rob Thomas played one of his hit singles. I have a feeling she probably dragged the other 3 there. lol
Then the lights dimmed and everyone went nuts! A roadie came out to the mic and introduced Dog the Bounty Hunter... which turned out to be some chick dressed up like him (boo!).. and then SHE inroduced ROB THOMAS!!!!! And out he came.... dressed like Michael Jackson! NOT EVEN KIDDING! Our jaws dropped and my mom and I stared at each other in disbelief for a second and then started busting up laughing. Then his band started playing and he sang THRILLER! OMG! I can't believe my mom called that! LOL! It was AWESOME! I got some video of most of it, which will be at the bottom.
Then Rob got into probably his second song when all of a sudden he just STOPS and starts yelling at some guy in the front row. Apparently the jackass said something about Rob's costume and Rob said "This is Thriller! This is MICHAEL JACKSON! Ya know what, I think you like to drink too much. You can get the fuck out of my concert." Holy crap! Then he apologizes real quick to the audience and says he meant no harm by his costume.. that he's a big MJ fan and then just continues singing! Wow.. crazy.
The concert was beyond magical. I was in HEAVEN. I'm a HUGE Rob Thomas fan so being at his concert.. with him on stage... was just the most amazing thing ever. I had a blast! He is really great live.. he was perfect.. didn't mess up a single song and sounded great! I cannot put into words just how amazing of a time I had. :)
After Rob was done with his set I rushed to the lobby to get into line to meet Carolina Liar. They were really nice. I got my CD signed by all of them and I got to take a picture with them, which is on my mom's camera so I'll post that once I get a copy of it. :)
I had the BEST time! It was wonderful! :) Here are some photos and the videos I promised. Enjoy!
