Hi All:
We finally got called into the Housing Authority office for an interview. They mailed a form for our landlord to fill out but he was going through a rough time (his Mother was sick and died). My husband then called the Housing Authority office to explain the situation and was told our case was moved to the housing complex. We got a letter in the mail from the housing complex for an interview. We then went on the interview and was shown a two bedroom apartment. We then went back to the office and they figured out the rentbased on what my husband makes and how many people will be living in the apartment. The gas and electricity are included in the rent. We were then told we had a week to get the rent, deposit and the activation fee for the CO2 alarm. i then emailed my Mother to call my Father to ask him to call me. She then called me and told me my Father was giving us the security deposit. I then called my Aunt and she emailed her daughter and her daughter sent us some money by Western Union. I then called the Management Office at the housing complex to set up an appointment to give him the rent, security deposit and activation fee for the apartment. We moved into the apartment on Saturday, October 24th.
It is in a clean, decent neighborhood. There is a park right across the street from our building. The train is three blocks away. The buses are within walking distance. Our son's school is only a 20 minute bus ride away. The apartment is clean and decent. It is not a luxurious apartment but all I ever wanted was a clean, decent, safe place to live. There are tile floors throughout the apartment (in every room).
My Mom called us yesterday and she said she emailed my brother and his wife and they said they are getting us a steam mop for Christmas. I am so happy about that because we were going to wait for my husband to get his bonus at Christmas time and then buy a steam mop.
I am so happy that we have our own apartment!!!
