Three Things I Think Of When I Hear the Word "Light"

First, Jesus is the light of the world.  John 8:12  Jesus said, "...I am the light of the world; he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."

Second, His light shines through those of us to follow and obey Him.  Ephesians 5:8  "For you were sometimes darkness, but now are you light in the Lord; walk as children of light."

Third, light always dispels darkness.  1 John 1:5-10  "This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.  If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth; But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.  If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

If you place a box with a light in it in the middle of a totally dark room and open the lid, the room is filled with light. If you place an empty box in a well lit room then open the box, the dark within the box does not penetrate the light...go figure. Jesus is the light of the world.
