6-Year-Old Girl with Brain Cancer Hid Love Notes for Her Parents to Find After Her Death

I definetly teared up. What an incredible thing for a 6 YEAR OLD to do. To KNOW that she was dying, and still find the strength to pass her love on, so after her death, her parents could find some peace. And, at SIX YEARS OLD to even comprehend what was happening...life and death-and what it means.Amazing. Simply amazing.

When 6-year-old Elena Desserich was diagnosed with brain cancer, she began hiding hundreds of little love notes around the house for her parents to find after she was gone. Here's the story:

Just before her sixth birthday, Elena Desserich (right) was diagnosed with brain cancer and given 135 days to live. She lived 255 days, passing away in 2007. After her death, Elena's parents, Brooke and Keith, found hundreds of notes from Elena hidden around the house - in between CD cases, between bookshelves, in dresser drawers, in backpacks....

"It just felt like a little hug from her, like she was telling us she was looking over us"

Elena left hundreds of notes like these:

Elena's parents, Brooke and Keith Desserich, have now published these notes in a book called Notes Left Behind to fund a non-profit organization The Cure Starts Now dedicated to fighting pediatric brain cancer.

Ah, this broke my heart, but the story is too touching not to share. Excuse me while I, erhm, dry my eyes. Got dust in ‘em or something.

at 6, i believe that this little girl didnt sit one day and say"oh hey let me hide some neat notes for my poarents after I die" no no this was her HEART that did it. seriously what 6 yr old has that maturity and emotional depth as far as mental awareness? not many, its simple scince that jmaturity is what it is.

No...this little girl this was just a pure and innocent as it says...giver of hope and love and peace to her parents. God bless them all.

strange how unfeeling some people are... if you read the comments for the news article, everyone keeps calling it a hoax because the parents would have discovered the notes earlier... among many other things not adding up.

LOL I don't know about you but if I was losing a child to brain cancer the LAST thing on my mind would be cleaning. So to those people who were rude to comment that way about the story they don't bother to think that it would be months before a mom ever got back into the mood to clean again.

I read some of the comments. I did some research online. Snopes didnot have anything, nor could I findany other hoax information.

Honestly, if my daughter was diagnosed with brain cancer and had 6 months to live...the VERY LAST THIG ON MY MIND, would be cleaning my house

As far as the exact days thing...Im sure they weren''t given an EXACT day. I'm sure it was actually..."you have 5 months to live"...and for the sake of the article turned it into a number of days...and the fact that they disclose that she actually lived 255 had alot to do with that.
