living with 2 rays of sun

Yesterday around noon we visited the maternity ward of the hospital. I thought it would be a great way to intro SO to this part of the hospital since he's never been in one! My daughter was actually born in this hospital. But I had never really looked at the ward, either -- when I came there for my 1st pregnancy, I was in labor/recovery the whole time so it was interesting to visit the place again and really get a good look.

The first thing we noticed were all the big beautiful wall art... which was photos of babies and new borns all along the halls. I knew we had to be in the right place!

My SO seemed all eyes and he was just grinning, lol. I think he was overwhelmed and feeling clueless. All of this is a first for him. I remember I took him to the baby depot in Burlington Coat Factory a month ago, and he seemed in a daze -- all those baby things just all over the place, lol.

But SO did ask a lot of questions while on the tour. He asked the nurse about H1N1, and about things in the maternity ward. I also pointed out this & that to him - the rolling crib with heat lamp that would be rolled out for baby (it was in a closet of the birthing room). He touched the blanket laid inside with his palm as if picturing for himself the baby that would lay there in a few more months :) Anything like that is so endearing to me! Especially as SO is a big strong dude (lol). Something about men in general, and big "man's man" in particular, softening over a baby -- awww ain't it so sweet?? ;)

The rest of the tour went well. I wanted to have my dd Nylah come back for a special tour for children. They take a group of kids around, show them newborns, they get a snack and T-shirt etc. But I noticed a lot of big signs saying no children under 12 allowed to visit because of H1N1. The nurse said right now kids are not even allowed to be there for their little bro/sister's birth. I wonder if this will be a factor by the time March gets here?
