Evelyn has severe Esophogitis. This is going to require her to have a surgical procedure called Nissen Fundoplication. Basically what they will do is wrap part of her stomach around her esophagus to prevent reflux. Part of the complication however is that it also prevents burping and can cause feeding difficulty. Therefore she will also require having a tube placed in her tummy to vent air and potentially to be fed through. We will meet with the surgeon soon to discuss when the surgery will take place and all the details. The Dr is not convinced it is Eosinophilic esophagitis they will know for sure after surgery. She is also back to not gaining weight as she should so they are putting her on a high calorie diet, we will go back to the GI dr in a month to see how it does. She will also be on a very restricted diet the rest of her life. Absolutely no dairy, potentially no soy or wheat. For sure no gluten, whey or lactose. He hypotonia is improving however slightly. She will continue with physcial therapy for sometime. The GI dr is going to be doing some extensive research as he is concerned with her lack of improvement. She will go back to Primary Children's in march for a muscle biopsy and other vairous tests. Things are not going very well for her and at this point the drs are worried about her quality of life. She is not getting proper nutrition, not growing or gaining weight and still missing milestones. One really great thing however is that she is super interactive extremely inquisitive and very social. So they are pretty sure it something structural and not neurological. They advise us to be prepared for years of testing, hospitalizations and potentially more surgeries. We are so blessed that she has a sweet disposition and loving nature. She truly is an angel sent straight from God and we would do absolutely anything for her.

This is what the procedure will look like.
