Do you consider yourself a good Christian? I consider myself to be the best Christian I can be. I strive for this. Now having said that, some of you are turning people away from God. By taking pieces of the bible and using it to hurt others. Can't you see the damage you're doing? Stop trying to shove the Word down other peoples' throats. If you gave them breathing room, they might be able to come to it on their own. But no. You tell them if they are like this or that, then they can't be close to God. God is the only true judge. Not you. Open the bible and your heart and take a look. Understand that the bible means something different to each and every person that reads it. Understand that the bible has been told and retold and told again and translated and retranslated and mistranslated and THEN committed to paper.....where it's been dissected and retranslated and mistranslated.......well, if you've made it this far you get the point. There are many misconceptions to be had when you take each word in the bible literally. Such as, "spare the rod and spoil the child". Look how many different things can be taken from that!

do your research before you assume you know what you're talking about. and this applies to all biblical passages that you quote without a second thought. many of them could have several different meanings. Do you really want to be guilty of misusing God's word and condemn others when it is not your place to do so? Take a moment to consider standing before God and having to explain why you thought that you had the right to hurt someone else with God's word. Why you thought you had the right to tell someone else they were going to Hell. Why you spent so much time hurting others instead of practicing kindness.
Most of all, think! Use your brain! Your priest, your pastor, your whoever...They do not have the authority to absolve your sins, or to condemn, or any of that either. They are people, just like us. Some may be honestly trying to do good, but in doing so they're doing more harm than anything else. Never listen to anyone that does not advise you to read the Word yourself, study it, and understand it the best you can. That's all I'm asking you to do. Give it a chance. Let's turn Christianity into what it was really supposed to be.
