Just Disgusted!!

I am just so mad right now! This is my first time journaling and I'm hoping my vent will be shared by other mom's out there. I have 2 wonderful children, for whom I am unable to get a H1N1 vaccine for. I have called all the local Dr's offices, the board of health, the county board of health, and the state board of health, and have been told over and over that there is no vaccine available until the end of Nov. to the end of Dec. Until then wash your hands, cover your coughs...blah blah blah and so on. Okay, I'm doing all that, yet children all over my neighborhood, and in ALL our local schools are coming down with swine flu...so what are we told to do???...keep them home, give them plenty of fluids etc etc...My vent is about how are beloved congressmen have been able to get vaccine's for themselves and their families...even though most of our Representatives don't even fall into a high risk category. And let's not forget about all the saviours on wall street who now have received there H1N1 vaccines due to their company perks...I'm furious and I don't want to take it anymore!!! I want to know how much the State of New York was paid to pass the vaccines on to Goldman Saks? If the state are in charge of distribution..why weren't these vaccines pass on to the high risk groups first..such as pregnant women and school-age children? I want to know how much the state received for this little hand washing deal! I am so tired of being a second class citizen in this country. So as I sit here and vent my frustrations, my youngest daughter is coughing and not feeling well...is it the flu??? I'm not sure...but what I do know is that ANY person on Wall Street who received a vaccine before any child in this country, should be ashamed of themselves, and when they hear of another child being hospitalized or on a ventilator, or worse yet dying...they should know that they are the ones who did it to them, and they should feel terrible. I'm so sick of politician and brokers and bankers just walking all over us and not even giving a damn. What is our country coming to? Where is the pride and sense of honor and duty? What on earth has happened to good old common sense? I'm not sure what the solution is, but I do know that something has to change. I do know that I will remember this when it comes time to elect new representatives. Maybe its time to start a new political party called The Common Sense Party. I'm just so frustrated and worried about all the children and pregnant women out there with no where to turn...so I share my vent with you, fellow moms, who know the feeling of doing anything to protect your child from danger, and feeling absolutely powerless.

Don't forget the terrorists at Guantanamo! They're getting them too! Can't risk a big breakout there of course. Wouldn't want any of them to get sick.
I understand your frustrations. I have a DD with a brain tumor who will most likely start radiation treatments in 2 weeks. Her oncolgist recomended our whole family get the vacine to protect her and I can't get the dang thing anywhere for us.
H1N1 vaccine is just a scam anyways, why are you in such a rush to get it for them?
whether or not H1N1 vaccines are a scam or not is not the issue, I'm not looking to debate that topic.The issue is that the priorities of the government are not on the best interest of people.If you look at the poster ahead of you, It's people like Her and her family that I'm am talking about. Why are prisoners, and wall street investors more important than her family? My heart goes out to you LadySaphira, and your family. 20 years ago the men on wallstreet, and in congress still had integrity, they would have stepped aside and said" women and children first" now they just stomp on you as they run you over.
ok what about you and your family trying so hard to get it instead of stepping aside like youre saying everyone else should?!

the vaccine is causing pregnant women to miscarry. Of course you wont hear that from our government either.
I got my h1n1 because i'm less then 5 weeks away from giving birth during the hight of flu season. i can't get it for my kids yet. because we don't have enough. so what i did was start them on d3 vitamins. they are doing so awesome on them. not even colds so far this season knock on wood. i buy the gummies at walmart and give each of my kids two gummies before bed ever night. even my 21 month old loves them. plus all our other muli vitamins that we take. i even made my husband start them and he's been exposed at least 8 times to h1n1 and hasn't even gotten a runny nose. it might just be us. but it doesn't hurt to take them. sorry about it being so hard to get the shot. i totally understand your frustration. even the regular flu shot is hard to come by right now.
I am more than willing to step aside for pregnant women and children first. I never said that I wanted the vaccine for myself, I do however want it for my girls, who both fall into the high risk catagory. I'm glad that you are happy with your choices for your childrens care, as I am happy with mine, as I said eariler, I'm not looking to debate whether or not the vaccine is a scam or not. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and if you are not wanting to recieve the vaccine for your children, then you have nothing to worry about and I am happy for you, I'm not trying to change your mind, so please don't try to change mine. I want my children vaccinated, and I hope that you can respect my choices for my family. And I agree with the previous poster about the vitamins...we too have been supplementing with vitamin D and hopefully it will help provide some extra protection. My youngest is still coughing alot, but thankfully no fever at this time. I will be keeping her home for the next few days to be on the safe side. She said their were about 6 kids in out sick from her class last week, and 2 teachers. Newspaper just wrote that the H1n1 vaccine will not be available for the school kids until the middle to end of Dec.
I hear ya!! I was in the same boat last week. Thank GOD our health dept. opened up a shot clinic that my kids got their shots at!
But my Grandma, a 65 yr old with a heart-lung transplant is not in the "high-risk" category and can't get hers yet. I am scared to death that she will get H1N1 and die.
I see how it is though--the terrorists at Gitmo got their H1N1 shots but my Grandma can't get one. The Gitmo people got theirs before my 14 month old asthmatic baby got hers.
They aren't testing anyone for H1N1. If you get it, you don't need the shot but how can you ne sure you need it if they are not testing? There is a shortage of shots and people are getting the illness and still getting the shot because they are not sure if they actually had it. I was told if we tested my daughter and waited for it to come back the tamiflu wouldn't help. Ok, so test her and I'll give her the tamiflu anyway! But they refused because "it's too expensive."
I hope you can find a shot soon. I do feel your pain. We still don't have regular flu shots yet.
I totally agree. They have just started doing the shots in the preschools here, but none are available for the public. My twins are 3 and not in preschool yet. I have a first grader bringing home all kinds of germs from school. My twins were preemies and have always had lung issues. I'm scared to death if they get it they will get very sick.
