Life in L&D

I work in L&D and float in the SCU/NICU

Zoe tested positive for H1N1 today. We went to urgent care when they opened and they took her in before I completly finished writing her name! Zoe has cyclic neutropenia. Her body will not produce, enough or none at all, neutrophils (the cells that fight infections, viruses, etc) in a 18 day cycle. She is on daily neurogen injections for the next 30 days to help her body fight off this virus. She is also doing daily CBC's to make sure her bone marrow is producing these very much needed cells. Today she was at 8,000! Which is awesome news but they are not sure how she will be tomorrow so we have to recheck for the next 7 days. Please pray that her neutraphil's stay above 1200. She has dropped to 0 within 24hr after being diagnosed with pneumonia in the past and she was put in PICU isolation then. We're hoping that does not happen again. Her bone marrow biopsy has been changed to Nov 20 instead of Jan 2010.
