Dear Mother-to-be,

I am excited to share with you my services as a doula on the Eastern Shore.

As you may know, doulas are gaining in popularity as more women want emotional and physical support during labor. This profession has received quite a bit of positive attention because of the success of the clients who use a doula.

Some of the benefits of having a trained doula are:

  • 25% shorter labor
  • 50% reduction in the cesarean rate
  • 60% reduction in epidural requests
  • 30% reduction in analgesia use
  • 40% reduction in forceps delivery

(Information obtained from Mothering the Mother: How a Doula Can HelpYou Have a Shorter Easier and Healthier Birth, Klaus, Kennell, and Klaus (1993).)

My role is not a medical one and I do not perform any medical or clinical services and will not make medical decisions for my clients. I work to encourage a smooth relationship between doctors, specialists, patient and family. I consider it professional integrity to work with and not against medical decisions.

How much do doulas charge? Most doulas charge between $300 and $1000 per birth. My fee is based on what someone can pay. I strongly feel that every mother deserves a doula regardless of their financial abilities to pay for one. I offer free consultations with all mothers so they have a chance to get to know me and discuss their birth expectations.

It is my privilege to work with women and I hope to have the opportunity to work along with you for you. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at 410.202.8255 or view my website at www.BreatheEasyBirthing.com

Thank you for your time,

Luci Malloy
