Letting Go

For far too long

I suffered at the hands

of a manipulative monster

disguised as a man.

He tricked me into believing

that I was nothing more

than a worthless wretch,

someone to abhor.

A treacherous road I

traveled alone and broken.

Until one day words of

true love were spoken.

So today I am letting go

of everything I've ever known

that I may best embrace

the precious gift I've been shown.
