I have seen so many posts about being politically correct

So no one gets there feelings hurt, we forfeit what is important of the date.  Calling a Christmas tree a holiday tree.  What a shame.

Calling Christmas vacation winter break.  How would you feel if it were your birthday, and everyone showed up just to get presents for themselves and did not even sing you happy birthday and completely ignored you as you stood by.  That is what we are doing to Jesus every year.  He comes to our house on Christmas day to see if we notice him and celebrate that day for him.  Not for what we can get out of it.

We are slowly taking Jesus out of our homes and out of schools soon Jesus will figure we do not need him at all and leave us forever.

Stop ignoring Jeus on his birthday and start noticing him and his special day just like if ti were yours. I know Christmas has some Pagan roots but as a Christian I do not look at the pagan aspect of it.  Yes we do a tree, yes we do an angel, yes we do decorations and no I do not do Santa.

So here is what I think of the Holiday tree and the winter break:

Merry Christmas!

And I do not care if you like it or not.

This whole "war on Christmas" thing is just something else for people to complain about in my opinion.  I have to this day NEVER heard anyone be offended by "Merry Christmas".  I'm not religious at all and I say it.

Great post and oh so true. We need to stop taking Christ out of everything and maybe our world wouldn't be so messed up!

To each their own. I prefer to celebrate a completely secular christmas. You prefer to ignore the pagan aspects, I prefer to ignore the christian ones. Different strokes and all. But I have to say that "and I don't care if you like it!!!" just sounds so snotty and full of attitude. My goodness. I thought christmas was supposed to bring out the best in people. Peace on earth, good will towards men and all...

I do not get offended when people say Merry Christmas. But what an attitude for a Christian to have. Why are you even saying it? Is it for yourself or for the person you are speaking too?  You seem very immature and have a nah nah nah nah nah attitude.

Happy Hannukah!

My response to this is, holidays are not suposed to be about being politically correct, I try to ignore it and go on about my holiday the way I have my whole life. we celebrate Christmas, I say merry christmas, i buy a christmas tree, most people who do celebrate other holidays Hannuka, kwanzaa, three kings, ETC do not get offended by someone saying merry christmas to them, some will say it back to you, and others who are another faith will say happy____.  those who do get offended and have to be politically correct are just not even worth the energy. we do also remember that it is in fact jesus's birhtday and every year since we have been small we have baked him a cake.

I say Merry Christmas, but a couple of myths need busting here- first it is only the day we have assigned to celebrate Jesus birthday.  It is known that the catholic church moved the date so that there would be about 6 months between Easter and Christmas.  The taxing that the Bible speaks of happened in the spring not the dead of winter.    Second issue, the Christmas tree and all the stuff that we have added to this holiday has nothing to do with Jesus.  You can call a tree a banana and it won't change anything.  Whether I say Merry Christmas or Happy holidays is not going to change one person from a non-believer to a believer or the other way.  How I live my life from January 1- December 31 might.  All this ranting and raving about what we call things just makes Christians look like nut cases.  So go out and influence your world 365 days a year and worry about things that aren't that important.

Jesus's birthday wasn't in December. What you are doing is celebrating the poor guy's birthday SEVERAL months too late. Christmas does not have just some Pagan roots. It's completely Pagan.

Anyway, that aside, I get what your saying, but I love me some seperation of Church and state. Jesus should never be in my child's school. Never. It's not what I believe and I will not have any of it forced on my child.
