I am just devastated hearing that Stalin's reputation is being given a white-washing by Russians.  There is a surge of nostalgia for the glorious USSR.

I believe the Allies are partly responsible for this lack of historic awareness.  Whereas the Nazis were put on trial for their crimes, the Soviet leaders were allowed to retire quietly.   There are tons of movies about Hitler and his Nazi-Sozi's (national socialists), but not many at all about Stalin and his secret police, or the gulag system.

So we always think of Hitler as evil personified.  Stalin is Uncle Joe.  After WWII, the USSR was given ten Christian countries to persecute and plunder.  Upon Germany the world poured scorn, regardless of the many opposition groups that were refused help when they were desperately trying to gain support for their resistance.

Any symbols of National Socialism are forbidden to be publicly displayed.  Any symbols of Communism are considered interesting and cool, and are put on display.  One is harmful, the other harmless.  How is that?
