I have a box of old photos that I go rummaging through when I need a smile.  They aren’t of my children.  They are photos of my grandmother and her parents.  The photos represent all that she was.  I especailly love the ones of her when she was young and in love with my grandfather or singing in the bars to the men that were serving our country or hanging lakeside with a group of her friends.  They make me smile every time.  Mostly because I can sit and remember her and all the great memories we had together and how VERY much she meant to me, but also because HOLY CRAP these people had some AWFUL taste.  I mean seriously. Their clothes were awful, their decor was awful and the HAIR.  OH. MY. GOD. The HAIR.

So last week I was on Pajamas and Coffee and she did a post about her mother and father and there was this FABULOUS photo of the two of them.  I commented that the photo deserved to be on a birthday card and that got me thinking and you people know what happens when I think.  I get a headache. Actually, I don't get a headache.  I give other people a headache because I drone on and on AND ON about my crazy new idea until they just tune me out and I am so exhausted from hearing myself talk that the idea no longer seems like a good one at all.  Except this time, I didn’t really talk about it because I was too damn busy and so I am actually going to put my BIG BUTT idea in motion.

Every Friday on this website I am going to post a bad taste photo and then you, my VERY witty and clever readers, will come up with captions for the photo as if they were being written on a greeting card.  I will pick my favorite and then post it every Wednesday on Ooph. At the end of twelve weeks I want to take these cards and get them published (not sure that is the right terminology, but I do books, not cards, cut me some slack).  Which shouldn’t be hard right? RIGHT?  Anyway it is my hope that someone will take a chance on them, they will fly off the shelves and then we will give 50% of all profits to homeless mothers and their children.

If one of my blogging friends happens to come up with the best caption, the back of that particular card would look like this:

If you are not a blogger, I will simply put your name and something remarkable about you.

What a spitter.

What do you think?  Can we get this done? This is just the beginning of many fun projects I hope to accomplish on this site that will give back.  I am CRAZY passionate about finding a way to get all mothers in this country into a warm home.  So help a sister help a sister.

The photo above is the week one photo. What do ya got for me? Please leave your captions in the comments section at Ooph. I can't wait to see what you all come up with.

No pressure.

I know you mean no disrepsect but I have a hard time making fun of people's clothes as if they matter.  If I can wrap my brain around the idea that making jokes about them is different from being contemptuous and condescending, I will try to take part.
