I went to school w/ a beautiful girl who was very friendly to everyone. She was a cheerleader w/the whole package from the hair to the smile & the hot boyfriend. She wouldn't treat anyone poorly, she was kind to everyone. She grew up to be a shell of herself, she didn't look healthy anymore. She was tan & thin but there was no spark there anymore. I had heard she had a baby but her husband had some abusive behavior problems & they divorced. She is dead of a liver hemorrhage, at the age of 40! I worked w/her cousin who told me about the drinking & the eating disorder. I am horrified! I can't believe that this gorgeous girl didn't see what we saw! She killed herself w/bulimia & alcohol abuse! I am still kind of shocked by it.
I told the AD & coaches at my interview that the prevention of eating disorders is a cause of mine. Women need to show the younger girls that we are confident in our uniqueness. We must love ourselves in order to love others. I will not let my cheerleaders talk about themselves in a negative way. I want them to know that they are beautiful as they are, and that they are still like anybody else & share the same emotions as others, we all have the same heart w/in us.
I will never forget Robyn Kryser or the way that she treated ppl.
