I am not one that enjoys birthdays. My real birthday is a few days into the new year, which does not lend itself well to being remembered, Growing up, I was often forgotten, or people didn't feel like anymore parties come the first week of January. I particularly hated it when people would give me a gift at Christmas and tell me it was for my birthday too, even though I got the same thing as my sister (who was not having a birthday). One year my mom completely forgot my birthday and I "got" to select my own birthday present from Ames that day.
Even as an adult, my mom doesn't call me until weeks after my birthday. My work family celebrates my birthday weeks after because we are all so busy during that time, and a colleague has to get celebrated first since he was born the day before I was (just my luck). All of these things make me not enjoy my birthday. Now that I have kids, I make more of an effort to have fun and enjoy my day, with the knowledge that it is only one day and I can get on with my life.
Likewise, with The Science Spot, I am not making a big deal about the birthday. No parties, no presents, no cake. The birthday will be one of many, I hope. I have a goal of 365 members on our 365th day, so maybe we will still hit that goal today. My style lends itself more towards focusing more on the science and less on the parties, anyway. So boring am I.
Pass it on -
Happy Birthday The Science Spot!

Happy Birthday To The Science Spot......And Happy Birthday to you as well....You DESERVE to have a good Birthday with all the fun trimmings! ...I know your NOT asking for anything BUT .....Just want you to know your wished a Happy Birthday ( YOUR BIRTHDAY ) from me to you!!

I am sorry your birthday has been forgotten so many times - especially as a child. My husband's birthday is just a couple of days before Christmas so he always got the "birthday/Christmas" gifts and he hates it. I always get him a specific "birthday" gift and wrap it in birthday wrapping so it's not a Christmas present.
So Happy Birthday to ya!
