Having a love affair with spinach, gardening barefoot, walking to the grocery store for a fig of rosemary, bought a tea kettle this is just the beginning of the confessions of a Conservative Republican.  I did it all in the name of my health.  I wanted to populate the earth and to do so I had to lower my blood pressure.  It seemed like a simple task.  I ate like a person of the earth and ran like the wind.  The plan worked.  For a period of time.  I got off blood pressure medicine and preached the good word.

And then something happened, either the democrats declaration of public government healthcare option passing in Senate or the Nebraska Cornhusker's fourth quarter miracles.  Whatever it was, the hippie lifestlye, only appears to be a medical induce hallucination of a solution.  I guess I can go back to being a hate monger, steak eating, destroyer of the earth and just shut up and take a pill for it.

Nothing appears to show in my blood work that my newly 28 year old body is causing the high blood pressure. The over all response is 'genetics', which I am starting to question my parental upbringing.  I want a DNA test.  These cannot be my parents!  Perfectly healthy!  Where are my real parents, you know the ones with high blood pressure that gave me this genetic deformity!  Perhaps my sister was right, the mail man might know.

Denial.  That could be a good word.  I don't feel compelled to be condemn to a life of pill popping.  I mean, for heaven sake, I just went through my hippie stage of life!  I want only pure things to enter it.  And everything I did for the last year was suppose to keep me healthy and young!  But some where I need to discover patience, acceptance, and tolerance of my own personal fate, 'bad' genes, and a relationship with the pharmacy.

Yes.  I am greatful that it is not cancer and that their is a solution.   I want to blame it on a fixable solution.  Some secondary casue like thyroid, kidneys, or such. But the complexity of the situation is I am officially human.  Not that I didn't know that before.  Only that now it is real, and a pill could mean the extension of my life.  A life that I love!  And I really don't want to see fade.

Some individuals in my life have questioned my sudden lifestyle change and have enjoyed passive aggressive pokes at veggie sandwiches or exercise regiments.  My response, 'You don't get to die twice, and if I am lucky, I can claim I didn't contribute to it.  Hopefully I can blame it on a bus or old age.  "

don't let the BP get you down, easier said than done i know... you've been doing great with everything. and if you go back to being "a hate monger, steak eating, destroyer of the earth and just shut up and take a pill for it." kinda person your not going to be happy or healthy.

just keep up on your crunchy republican ways cause we all love you that way! you just need to accept that despite your best efforts there are some things that will be out of your control, and despite the bad reputation to hippies, western medicine does have a place at times, its not always bad to seek medical attention for disorders, even "controllable" ones...

and your sisters are always saying that they found you in the sewer... maybe it isn't such a tall tale, lol ;)  j/k! keep your chin up :)

What a bummer!  Seriousy though Nicole, you are a great inspiration and although the BP isn't under your control, you have made some awesome improvements to your health.  Keep on truckin'!!  I'm sure you will be sparing yourself from many other problems by maintaining your 'hippie' lifestyle.
