In case you haven't been following it, here, in a nutshell, is the philosophy behind the new mammogram guidelines as set by a federal advisory panel, which wants us to stop getting tested before age 50, and then only every other year:

Sure thousands will die as a result, but they, thousands more won't have to worry their pretty little heads about it.

That's right, ladies. The feds want to scale back mammograms because they make too many women needlessly worry. Never mind the thousands among us who would be dead right now if these new guidelines had been heeded.

I am blind with rage. We must stand up to this! OUR LIVES ARE NOT EXPENDABLE!!!!

I agree--I've "flunked" two mammograms because I have dense breasts, plus I'm at risk because I started menstruating at 11 and didn't have kids until I was 30.  I have to keep a careful eye on things, and I don't want to wait 2 years in between mammograms.

It is yet another way for the government to rip "US" off & save themselves money

.

I not only have seizures, & a spinal disease, but I have been told repeatedly that I am at risk for cancer.

My father died of cancer & several of my relatives have different types of cancer.

I was recently sent a LONG list of reasons why, not only, "not" to go to the emergency room, but a long list of why "NOT" to even go to my clinic!!!

The letter said to always calls a nurse first!!!

Then...on top of that, they cut my SSI $230.00 a month without notice.

I called to find out why/how...they said that it is the "new guidelines"!!!devil

However, we all keep being told that we need to "support our government"!???

Why?...they certainly aren't supporting us!

I know a couple 25 year olds who had to force the doctor to do a mammogram on them both of them had cancer. So now some old man who himself is at risk for breast cancer is going to tell us only fifty year old women should get checked for breast cancer? This is why they have breast cancer awareness month. Yet another person trying to say who can and cannot get the medical treatment they should get how original...... Gross neglect of breast cancer lead to the stating of the Susan G Coleman fund

I've written about this on my facebook. It is a dangerous new thing that they are trying to talk women into. If my mothert and grandmother had this advice, both would have died. My great-great grandma DID die of breast cancer. Here is what I had to say on FB:

This is bull crap and the worst breast cancer advice I've ever heard....its ays no mammograms at 40, and stop doing self exams. I wonder how many women they are trying to kill with this. I'll keep doing what I'm doing and start my mammograms at 25. Eat that, government task force.

My mom found her lump by self exam. And guess what, she was barely over 40! Insurance pays for it (most of the time) if you qualify (40+ or younger with a history) so why not take advantage if it? I'm starting at 25, insurance or not, just for the peace of mind that would give me after 4 generations of BC in my family. I self exam religiously, so I will know when something is different and I urge people to do the same. Early detection saves lives and BC is showing up younger and younger. Just 2 months ago, and 11 year old girl was diagnosed with it!

I just don't want my daughter to be generation 6 if I am 5. It's not fair that they want women to die.

"as set by a federal advisory panel,"

It's only the beginning.  Obama-care getting the new rules and regs in place ahead of time. Call your senators and tell them to reject the plan.  The government doesn't give a CRAP if your tumor is detected early.

The government is not the answer in the healthcare arena.

Obamas "Health Care" plan is not the answer. While I do agree that I wouldnt mind a slight increase in my taxes to save lives, I WOULD mind if my money wasnt spent in an effort to save lives through PREVENTATIVE measures. Such as yearly mamograms, for those in the age range and those at risk women. Also ladies did you know that the federal panel said that "self exams are ineffective in catching breast cancer". O yea, Im gonna buy that. My husbands gma caught hers through self exam, and she is a Brest cancer survivor!

What a great idea.  Let's ignore the research that these doctors have spent years doing and get expensive, unnecessary, and potentially dangerous tests!  After all, all those companies that make a fortune selling pink crap every year tell us how horrible breast cancer is therefore every dollar of our health care spending should go towards it.  Frankly I don't see why we should use common sense and sound science when we could just surrender to paranoia and fear instead.

News flash~ Mamograms are X-rays and having too many can CAUSE cancer. I prefer to get mine every two years between 40 &50.  Sorry I'm not a paranoid loon.
