I currently work in a hotel... a nice, "3 star" (since we dont have a full service restaurant, that is the highest rating we can get) comfort suites. Now, back in the day when I was waiting tables and about 30 lbs lighter, I used to get compliments all of the time. I was used to it, and I guess I asked for it b/c flirting was part of how I made my money. Now, here I am, feeling like a beached whale tipping the scales at around 190 lbs (when the "hot" me was only 140) with 3 kids and a DF (whom I love to death)...
There's a business group here... they checked in yesterday, and one of them just called me from his room. Figuring it was another "I need more towels" call, I answered "Front desk, this is **"
The caller (Lets call him Dan) says "Hey... this is going to be my last night in town and I was wondering if you would go have a drink with me when you get off?"
Be still, my heart... and its not like this guy has his shortage of gals, either. At least, I'm guessing. He's a very, very fine man. I'm super flattered that he would ask to take me out for drinks after my shift... however that would be kinda hard to explain to DF when DF came to pick me up from work at 11. "Yeah, honey, sorry, but Dan here asked if I'd have drinks with him tonight since he's leaving town tomorrow... do you mind? I'll just have him drop me off at home when we're done..."
Yeah, no. That, and as previously stated, I love DF and the thought of drinks with another man (besides my dad or brother, or possibly a mutual friend) is not even a question. It still made me smile. :)
*big cheezy grin*
Dont worry, I let him down gently. A simple, "I'm sorry, I can't, but thank you for the offer". Sweet. Yay me. :)
