Ok, so my 18-month-old, Isabella, has started undressing herself. Now as soon as she pees her daiper even a tiny bit she immediately takes it off! Sometimes she does it, even if she hasn't peed. Somehow she knows better than to do that when she's pooped but she'll bring me a daiper when she is, so I can change her. My aunt and hubby said that she must be ready to start potty training. Well, its been a few days and I've put her on her potty seat at least 15 times since the, but she just won't go. Is she not using the potty because she's just not ready or is it normal for the first few days of potty training to go like this? Anyone have any advice?
Comments:
She is a little young. Most likely just figured out how to pull the tape tabs and get the diaper off, for fun, not because of being wet or pooped. Little girls at this age start undressing and dressing themselves which is the start of learning to potty train. Put masking tape over the tape tabs on her diaper so she can't get the diaper off. If she come to you to be changed, do change her, offer her to sit on the potty, and talk about pee going in the potty, etc.
To know she is fully ready is when she wakes up dry from the night, and naps. That she is dry for long periods of time and then 'releases' all at once. She is learning control right now. She might be peeing a little bit and noticing now.
You could try to train now but in six months you probably will be where you are today with her. After that though is a good time to really start full time training when she is well over two years old.
Thanks so much for the advice, y'all! I don't think I'll worry about the potty training so much right now. I'll let her tell me when she's ready. :)

Honestly i think she is just not ready. My dd did that at her age too and we bought her a potty but she refused to even try it, so we left it alone and eventually she will ask to sit down and she has pee peeded twice since. She just turned 2 last month and I still feel as if she is not ready yet so we are going to give her a little more time and next year when she gets to about 2 1/2 we will fully start to train
