DestMasters's Journal

This, that and the other thing......

The spine and the whole skeleton really, are the support system for the body.  What about the soul?  The spirit?  The essence of who we are?

I know that I have a group of Super Friends.  While I do have love and support from my family, sometimes as women, we need other women in our lives.  While it is true that historically women can be competitive and, well, bitchy to each other, they can also be there in a nano second when someone needs a helping hand, a hug, a shoulder.....support.

It doesn't surprise me that most of my best friends, my biggest supporters, are right here in this computer....right here on CM.  They listen to me, they laugh, cry, cringe and love with me.

How I became so lucky, I'll never know.  I'm SO glad I am though.

I hope this video works.  The copy I wanted is no longer available and this isn't a real good one, but it gets the idea of things going and I've pasted the lyrics first.  I first saw it when one of my very best super friends shared it with me. I hope she doesn't mind my hijacking it.  The song means so much to me now and speaks volumes to my Super Friends.

The lyrics:

How I love these roads
Every far and lonely highway,
Through basin and range
And a desert that never ends-
A sky so wide
You can feel your heart turn quiet,
And then I listen
For the voices of my friends

One rides in the summer wind beside me,
One flies with the stars
That set the wild night on fire,
One runs close and steady as a river,
I could drive for miles
Carried by that choir.

From the hills of my hometown,
To the Arizona canyons,
From Chinle to Sky City
To the gorge of the Rio Grande-
The high and winding way
From Chimayo to Las Trampas,
The long road bends
To the sweet sound of my friends.

One's up where the clouds brush the mountains,
One rushes down a stream
Past the bright columbine -
I could drive for miles
Just thinking about them,
How I love the road
And these true friends of mine.

One rides in the summer wind beside me,
One flies with the stars
That set the wild night on fire,
One runs close and steady as a river
I could drive for miles
Carried by that choir.

*sniff*  What a beautiful post Dest.  I feel the exact same way.  I say this in the best possible way but my CM Superfriends have turned me into a snob for real life friends...I'm like "Meh, you're no SUPERFRIEND!"

I love that song.  I have it on my iPod and every time I hear it, I think of my superfriends who are scattered all over the country, yet very close to my heart.  Dest, you are the superest of superfriends.  Muah!

I just now discovered this gem, Destiny, & I think it's lovely.  Thank you for sharing it.  If anyone deserves a set of Super Friends, it's you!  *wink*

You've been there for me, through thick & thin, & my life is better for having known you.  To me you have been the quintessential Super Friend, & the only way that I can repay that is to pay it forward by living well, in peace, happiness, & joy, making wise decisions that beautify everything.

Hugs...Ceci
