Ok, so today I had the awesome privilege to do Nia with the founder of Nia, Carlos AyaRosas!!!! My sister brought me for my birthday, and we danced Nia for 2.5 hours straight!!!
If you've never checked Nia out, go to http://www.nianow.com/ and see if there are classes offered in your area. You might find you like 1 instructor more than another, so try a few different classes if you don't like the 1st instructor.
I have been doing Nia 2/week for 3 yrs, and since July of 2009 I decided I needed to do the class more than 2x/week. SO....I started doing Nia 4-5x/week for the past few months. In that time I lost 10 lbs and dropped an entire pants size!!! I really wasn't setting out to lose weight, but that's what Nia does for you!!! AND it's incredibly FUN:) It's a combination of dance, tai chi, marial arts, and yoga moves. The Nia motto is basically "Through movement we find health".
Give it a try if you have a class in your area. You can also purchase dvd's to do at home!
