I have a son with cancer. I am lucky, as is he. He is beating the evil beast that is trying so desperately to kill him. With any luck what so ever, and by the grace of God, my son will be cancer free within the next month or two.
That being said...
Yesterday my son had his wish granted by the Make A Wish foundation. His wish was one huge shopping spree to Best Buy (electronics). He received a sum of cash and was allowed to buy anything he wanted to buy. But that's not all. They picked us up in a limousine yesterday morning and took us to the store where we were met by two volunteers and one young man who was the grandson of one of the volunteers. They took pictures of him holding the money and then our own personal shopping assistant started to pull the items on my son's list.
Now, my son was only allowed a certain amount of money and Best Buy incredible. You see, they discounted everything so much once everything on my son's list was in the cart he still had a lot of money to spend, which he did. lol One more thing, they even gave his sister a little bit of money to spend on herself as well, just so she wouldn't feel so left out.
After that, it was back into the limo and off to lunch. We went to a place called The California Pizza Kitchen. Again, we had a limit of how much we could spend but it was more than enough! But one of the things that brought tears to my eyes was that at the end of the meal when our volunteers were getting ready to pay the bill, the restaurant had already paid it.! The manager came over and told us it was the least he could do.
For the first time since my son was diagnosed he was totally happy. He didn't let his cancer bother him. My sweet 14 year old boy was like a innocent child for what was probably the last time. I was thrilled.
Now what does this have to do with Macy's? Macy's is donating funds to the Make A Wish Foundation for every letter to Santa they receive. Up to $1 million. So I am asking, no begging, I don't care if you believe in Christmas or not, I don't care if you think Santa is the devil incarnate, I am asking that you have your child write a letter to Santa and take it to Macy's. Help another child with cancer feel special and be able to forget for a little while the doctors the baldness, the needles, the chemo, the radiation, the nausea, the everything. Please.
Oh and one other thing, please vote this popular so more mom's will see it and help. I'm off to Macy's today with the letters my kids have written.
Thank you.

I am so happy that your precious son had a worry free and happy day. I would love to take a letter to Macys but there isnt one near me. Can we mail them in?
I'm glad to read this. God bless your son.
I made my 18,15,16 yo fill them out last weekend at the mall. They thought I was crazy.
That's such an amazing story. The utter kindness is astounding.
Thank you so much for sharing. My children will be writing letters.
Thank you for your story. I hope you son is cancer free and has a long happy life with his terrific mom!
I'm not close to a Macy's, but I can possibly mail them to a friend, in a large envelope, and have them drop them off at Macy's for me. I am really reaching out this year in any way I can. We are struggling too, but I know others have it worse than I. God bless your family.
I am making my 17 year old write a letter and off to Macy's we will go. I hope your son makes a full recovery. Have a great Thanksgiving.
