This is an update regarding the laptop stolen from my friend's orphanage, the Baobab Home:

Terri and the BH family can’t thank you all enough for your donations that enabled her to buy a new computer. The data loss was minimal, the theft was very upsetting.  Terri had little faith that an email and or Facebook letter would help.  When she got a call just 36 hours later to say we were almost there, she just cried. Many contributions did come from family, but I consider you all family and thank you for your most generous help.  —Josepha Place

Quoting Terri:

“Truly, something awful turned into something that inspiring.

In general, things here are really good. We are building on our farm and plan to move onto it early in 2010. This will save us a lot of money and we’ll be a lot more self sufficient. We are returning two kids to extended family next month, happier and healthier than when we took them in last year. We just took in two abandoned little boys two days ago. The two month old is reasonably healthy, but the two year old is in very rough shape. January we move our breakfast program to the HIV treatment center so that we can improve the nutritional impact we’re having on kids.

I have a lot of writing to catch up on. Thank you all for making it possible.”

It's fabulous that the laptop has been replaced and connection restored between Terri in Africa and the board members in the U.S. But there are still mouths to feed, etc. Please remember the Baobab Home this Christmas season and help out if you can. www.tzkids.org

Also, if you are an online shopper, please start at iGive.com and choose the Baobab Home as your cause. They receive a penny every time you search (and some stores donate a percentage of the purchase). It's 100% FREE for you to use.

And for your other web searches, please use Goodsearch.com. You get the same results as any other search engine, but a penny per search is donated to your cause. Again, it is 100% FREE!

Those pennies add up after a while. And you can feel good about helping without hurting your own budget. =)
