Just when you thought you knew when to schedule your
mammogram, there is suddenly a whole new set of rules.
On
Monday, the U.S. Preventative Services Task Force released new
guidelines about mammograms.
The new guidelines suggest
annual mammograms should start at age 50, instead of age 40. These
guidelines are not for women with a higher risk of breast
cancer.
We
want to hear your opinion on this important issue, and we will
publish the results in the next week. Please
take our two-minute survey and make your voice heard!
If
you're trying to figure out what these new recommendations mean to
you, read
our article that gives you the details of these new rules. We
also explain what several
women's health organizations think about these recommendations,
including:
- Breastcancer.org
- Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation
- American Cancer Society
- Susan G. Komen for the Cure
The new guidelines will
undoubtedly have an impact on women's health. We want to know what
you think about the new guidelines. Should there be age limits
around mammograms? Should there be different rules for people with a
family history of breast cancer?
Share
your experiences and opinions by taking our short
survey.
To thank you for your time and to support women's
health, we'll make a donation to the organization of your
choice. We'll select at random one person who completes the
survey. She or he can pick a women's health organization. We'll make
a donation of $250 in that person's name. Thank
you!
Sincerely, The MyHeartCentral.com team
PS: The
survey ends November 25, 2009, so
