Marriage Made Fun
By Ron & Angie Lucarini
Is your marriage surviving? Don’t be so quick to boast with a “yes” to answer that question. The idea isn’t to merely survive; It is to have a great marriage, where we can actually have fun with our spouse.
We believe that when we incorporate “fun” into our marriage, it will not only help to alleviate many of life’s other existing stressors, but we’ll actually enjoy being perfectly joined together as husband and wife. What’s the benefit of having a brand new corvette, if you can never drive it? Likewise, if you have a spouse, but fail to enjoy them to the fullest, you’re truly missing out on one of life’s greatest blessings. We want to encourage you, it’s not too late. Begin to have fun in your marriage today. Don’t waste another moment “simply co-existing” in your marriage relationship. Here are some ideas, to help you get started:
Spontaneity
(Sometimes we need to interrupt the routine, with spontaneous fun. Perhaps a surprise weekend getaway, a dinner date, or even an unexpected gift when it’s not a holiday.)Share new experiences
(Go for a ride in a hot air balloon, horseback riding, skydiving, down a mega-waterslide, or even ice-skating. Explore new things in life together.)Don’t forget to laugh
(Laughing releases endorphins, which promote good health. Watch a funny movie together, play a game, or share a joke.)Make time for intimacy (Time won’t find you, you must find it! Whether it be cuddling, kissing, dancing, or becoming one in the most intimate of ways, this tears down barriers and walls of hurt or resentment, which might otherwise build up over time.
Run, wrestle, or exercise together Letting down your defenses and sweating together is not only fun, but also therapeutic.
What ever your idea of fun may be, the point is to make a concerted effort to implement it into your marriage on a regular basis, whether you feel like it or not. A marriage lacking fun is lacking luster. Don’t just survive! Go above and beyond to create that marriage made in heaven, which God intended us to have.
