My mom is the librarian for an intermediate school. One of her students is 10 year old Teresa Avila. Teresa has stage 3 lymphoma, her mom died of breast cancer 2 years ago. Her father was a brick layer for years until an accident put him in a wheelchair. They live in a small town and have to drive 3 hours to Oklahoma City for her weekly chemo and treatment. They do not own a car, and have very little money, so the disability bus will take Teresa, but not her father, since he is disabled and must have an appt to be able to ride. Her 16 year old sister can not go with her because she is a minor, so they expect her to ride to OKC for 3 hours, take chemo and treatment for 5 hours, and go back, all by herself. Some of the teachers have bought bus tickets and gas cards for them to be able to be with Teresa during this hard time, but they need more reliable transportation. Earlier this week, she suffered a stroke and is in the ICU at OU Children's Hospital and  will be paralyzed if she survives. I can not imagine the pain of a father and sister having to go through this, when just a short time ago, they lost her mother. She is the sweetest little girl and never complains, even though she has every right to complain. Every time I have seen her father, he is just beside himself, crying, he can't imagine losing his daughter after losing his wife. Her sister is also going through alot of stress, since she has to do much of her sister's care. My mom and a few other teachers at her school are frustrated because alot of the other teachers are unwilling to help, just because she is from a poor Mexican family. The family is in desperate need of prayer and help. An account has been set up at Mid First Bank in Altus, Oklahoma, here is the link for the local newspaper article. If you have time, PLEASE, pray for this little girl and her family.

My prayers are with this family....

Matthew 11:28

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

Matthew 5:16

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
