I have much to be thankful for this holiday season, including the release of the Second Edition of my book, COTTON BUTTERFLIES (When Love Is Not Enough)!
Twenty-eight years after my adoption, I was reunited with my birth mother. What unfolded was a remarkable story of courage in the face of abuse, betrayal and abandonment.
My mom, Darlene, grew up in a mill village as the abused child of a southern preacher.
When a young man breezed through their little town on his way up north, the sixteen-year-old followed on the promise of love and a new life.
The dream soon turned in a nightmare when my mom discovered she had been baited for the mob's prostitution ring!
She bravely escaped and made it home, only to face the cruel gossip of town folks, an angry father who refused to let her into the house and--a surprise pregnancy!
