Geting ANGRY

When I got home last night my apartment had no heat. There is 5 other apartments in this building and after freezing last night I asked the neighbors if they had heat, they all said no, and we are all wrapped in blankets whereing so many layers we look like abomonable snowmen. I am so cold I feel like ice. We have all left messages with thelandlord, being his phone is shut off and he is not answering our calls. After freezing for this long, I am going to the store to buy heats which is only going to raise my electric bill and being I have a limited income im getting really upset. I am barely getting by as it is and now all this. The landlord is responsible for the heat. The whole reason I moved into this place is because it had heat included, but obviously not all the time, just when the landlord, or should I say slum lord decides to put fuel in the tank.

I called the red cross and let them know there is children and animals in this apartment complex and they are working on getting this fixed while I have the oven door wide open and on 500 degrees. THat just dawned on me about 30 minutes ago after going into the kitchen. Wish I had thought of that last night while shivering all night.

Needless to say my day has not started off well at all, and I am praying it gets better, and at least a few degrees warmer. I think it is warmer outside then it is inside. I am waiting for my ride so I can go buy electric heaters and waste more money due to the landlord not being repsonsible, but im sure something will get worked out. The landlord said if I called the building inspectors on him when I first moved in he would evict me which i know is illegal but that shows what type of a creep he is. On top of all of this I have one outlet in the entire house that works, so I have extension cords running in every direction just to get power to stuff, which is a danger so he could get in trouble for that as well but im waiting for now to see if he wants to do this the easy way or the hard way. I refuse to pay rent in a place where I cannot live comfortably and have to freeze, so hopefully he decides to do something today while I freeze and wait for a return call.

Sorry this is so long, had to vent. I am getting a little too angry.

That's terrible!!

You can make an anonymous report on him. He won't evict ALL his tenants because someone made a complaint. He's a bad landlord, and that needs to be fixed NOW.

Good luck. Make that call. Your family deserves to have heat in the home they pay for.

There are laws that landlords have to abide by, trust me I know, my husband and I are landlords, not slumlords, I agree with the above poster you can make a anonymous complaint.

honey there is a thing you can do with the bank. its called escro i do believe it is where you put your rent in a safe deposit box an if he tries to take you to court tell the judge you will pay him as soon as your place is safe. it is a type of veto. love you miss you.
