Jenn's thoughts

Ramblings of a PA mom

I have no idea what is wrong with me this year.  First, I'm whiney about not having Christmas dinner at my house (which I'm slowly getting over), then it's 2 days after Thanksgiving and I don't have my decorations up inside yet.

I remember a time when I had my decorations up before Thanksgiving (I lived out of state and we were having family over for Thanksgiving, had to show off my Christmas decorations to someone).  Of course I was minus children at that time, so I'm sure that made a difference.

This year I'm having a hard time getting into the Christmas spirit.  Usually by now, I have almost all my gifts bought but this year I only have the boys and dh bought for.

Maybe part of it is that we did not exchange names this year with my family like we do every other year.  So now I don't have to find that perfect gift for that someone.

I still have the nieces and nephews to buy for, the brother in law and sister in law and all of dh's cousins kids (6 in total).

I did go up and pull down all the Christmas decorations and after recuperating (dh is working tonight so I had to dragged all the boxes down from the attic myself) started putting the decorations up, but I still have so many to do yet.

I have been contemplating putting up two trees this year, one that is color cordinated and one that has all the family ornaments on.  We have so many terrific ornaments and I hate to keep any of them in the boxes, but I don't want to seem snobbish by putting up two.  One would be real, one would be fake.  I am debating where I would put the second one, I'm thinking in my dining room in front of my window.  The real one would be in the corner in the living room where it went last year.

I decorated out doors last weekend after helping my dad put up their decorations and I'm about 90% sure that I used our tree lights on the banister.  I really hope that's not the case but I'm pretty sure it is, which means I'll need to go buy new lights again this year for the tree.

I really would love to find a terrific deal on LED lights for the tree but I'll probably have to put up with the regular kind because of the cost.

Well hubby is on his way home from work, it's time for me to get the Christmas off the floor so we have a path to get through, just in case.

Enjoy...it sounds like you are well on your way to getting it done! And...put up 2 trees!! :-) It's a great idea and not "snobby"...it's fun and you are right...the ornaments ALL need to be used...no sense in letting them sit in boxes! Have FUN!!

oooh! Two trees! My parents do that every year! They have a military tree, where they hang all of our military memorabilia and ornaments, and then the family tree. I don't think two is snobby at all!

Also, you HAVE to take some pics of the house when it is done! We are just starting out, so we have VERY few decorations, so I NEED to see someone's house who has a jillion of them!

Hon do not worry yourself. I can tell you what is happening to a lot of people this year. I pick up on energy and am intuitive. It is the mood of the country. With unemployment at 17% there are a lot of people who are out of work, lost their homes, and this administration and president have left us in a terrible mess. People are uncertain about the future and when your own president tells you that it is bad instead of encouraging you than people get depressed and then angry. Try to watch comedies, listen to music that you love and be thankful for what you have. You will find that it will get better and keep saying to yourself I feel good even if you don't. Pretty soon the subconscious mind will really begin to kick in and you will find yourself feeling a lot better. Hope this helps you and it is not snobbish to have two trees. I know people who have 4 or even 5. Don't let other people spoil things for you.
