This is such a wonderful time of year and it doesn't matter what belief system you follow either. December is an amazing month, so many different religions celebrate during this month in their own special way. It's awesome to see the different customs from around the globe as well!
We don't have a lot of money this year but still wanted to make Christmas special for the girls. I found a used powerwheels H2 on the curb and it had a working charger and battery, some of the parts just needed to be fixed. No problem! It's a 250 dollar toy, we can fix it for much less. It was this ugly yellow color and dirty. All week Alex has been working on it, and it's almost ready! He cleaned every part, and made it work. He painted it black w/ hot pink bumpers and is spray painting a hot pink skull on the hood. It's amazing what hard work can get you. We couldn't have bought one as cool as this one will be.
We also found an outdoor play area w/ a slide for 20 dollars!
Becka is 3 and is just getting into the spirit of Christmas. We are teaching her about giving and about Santa Clause and how we celebrate. I can't wait to bake cookies and have her pick the ones for Santa. I can't wait to see her face light up at the presents under the tree, albeit there aren't many.
Christmas for me is about joy and family. Becka gets to help decorate the tree and hang the stockings. She will open the doors on her wooden advent Calender to find a ring, or a bracelet or maybe even a piece of chocolate each day!
She doesn't care about the presents, which helps remind me that no matter if we couldn't get her anything the Spirit of Christmas is still alive and wonderful. It doesn't matter if there are no gifts under the tree or 100 gifts, to a child being with family and together and having fun is what's important. Seeing the world through her eyes is such a blessing.
