So today for some odd reason I decide to watch Oprah. If you watched it as well maybe you got this feeling as well. Oprah was showing a man who wrote the book "Half the Sky". He traveled to Africa to help women in need and showed the different women who were suffering from prostitution, slavery, and women who were looked at shamely because they were raped from enemy people of the other towns and then the women were left to starve.... It really touched me, but I felt so helpless. I felt as though I want to help in some way, but its like giving money is not enough.... If you go on Oprah's website you can see the clips of today's show and see what I mean. It seems that more people need to get together to help this cause. They kept saying that more women have died over there in Africa from disease, child birth, starvation and the such and if they had the things we do over here they would not even die.
What really bothered me was that boys are more willing to get vaccinated but not the girls. . .
If you get the time to go and see for yourself, education on the subject will help the world. Look for two minutes and you'll see what I mean
Hugs
Comments:
I understand the need for help in Africa, however, I am definitely of the thinking that we here in the USA have our own issues that need to be addressed and resolved before we help those less fortunate in other countries. Alot of the problems in Africa come from a lack of education or being misinformed. Many of the people are still very much ignorant and need to be properly educated about these matters so they can better aid themselves.
