really? Overqualified?

I just don't get it! I have applied for 42 jobs and have gotten 17 interviews and have been turned down for jobs that I know I am overqualified for, but really? The excuse of "we went with someone else who better fit our criteria" is getting pretty damned old...at least there were some who were honest with me and basically said "we would never hire you because as soon as something better came along you would leave us"....even though i do appreciate their honest...isn't that just true with any employee?  I mean, really, if you are working at an office shuffling papers for a boss and you get the chance to BE the boss, don't you think they would leave too? UGH! I am so frustrated and feel so worthless, especially with the impending financial stress and crisis that our family is experiencing because i can't get a full time gig....and I don't qualify for unemployment because i was an on call employee the whole time I was finishing my degree.....so now I have had to acutally QUIT my favorite job because i wasn't being hired full time, nor was i getting enough hours, just so I can cash out what little retirement is left so i don't lose my house!   God....this just stinks!!!!!!
