Holidays are always such a special time but one year will always stand out in my mind.  My daughter, now 29, was 7 years old.  She went to bed as usual, with anticipation of what was yet to come.

About 3:00 a.m. my husband and I heard this evil laugh and then Amie crying.  We jumped from bed sure that we had an intruder and Amie was being hurt.  To our surprise we found something quite different.  In the middle of all her opened presents was Amie, holding a clown doll, a gift from her Great-Grandmother.  She was trembling as tears rolled down her cheeks.  Yes, the evil laugh was from the clown doll (What was Great-Grandma thinking?).  But just as soon as the look of relief crossed her face as she saw her rescuing Mom and Dad, it was replaced by the look of someone being caught with their hand in a cookie jar.  To this day she has no reasonable explanation of why she opened her gifts early and by herself.  We do get a giggle about it now...and no, she didn't keep the clown doll.

This year we will be celebrating Christmas twice.  We'll be heading to Colorado to spend an early Christmas with Amie and her three little ones.  I wonder what they'll come up with to surprise her...they do take after their mom after all.

Then it's back home to Oklahoma.  On Christmas day we'll be bringing our son, JJ, home for the day.  He's living in a group home for the developmentally delayed and we miss him terribly.  It'll be nice spending this special day with him.  I'm sure we'll be creating some special memories.

God has truely blessed us and it'll be nice celebrating His son's birthday with our family.

Merry Christmas everyone!
