Technically it was a Yule tree before it was ever a Christmas tree. The tree is a Pagan tradition, not a Christian tradition. Additionally, the Catholic church (which started Christmas) chose to do so in December because it was when the Pagans celebrated Yule and their biggest competitors (whom they murdered for years) were Pagans. So technically speaking, it's none of what you posted.

BUT, why can't you be happy that someone wants to wish you a happy holiday season no matter how they do it? Why do you feel the need to get upset if someone isn't celebrating Christmas but Kwanzaa or Hannukah? I don't see why saying Christmas, xmas, or Happy Holidays matters as long as someone says it and means it!

It is Happy Holidays because more than just Christmas is being celebrated this time of year.

So if they choose to say Happy Holidays why does it bother you? No one's saying you shouldn't say Merry Christmas.

I agree with all the other PP's.

Christmas began with Pagan tradition and honestly has nothing to do with Jesus. What does the tree have anything to do with Jesus? What about Santa? And feasting?

And there are tons and tons of other holiday's that are celebrated at this time. I say Merry Christmas back to those who say it to me first. Or to those i know who celebrate Christmas. BUT when i am the first to say it and i don't know what you are celebrating this time of year, i always say Happy Holidays.

Christ is the reason for the season.
