I was inspired today! I have a friend in Reno, NV (i'm in south georgia btw), who is part of www.spreadpeacereno.org. This organization/church helps the homeless in their area. They feed them, give them donated supplies and are very good at spreading the word online and in their community. After watching the homeless struggling in the snow (the organization posts a lot of short clips on facebook), I decided I will knit some scarves and hats and mail them out. But of course this got me thinking about my OWN community. Homeless people are here too! It doesnt get as cold as Reno, but we have our share of freezing days and nights! I decided I will also make some scarves and hats for the homeless in my town. Why just scarves and hats? That's the best I can do on my loom LOL. I have posted a suggested meetup on the discussion board on Parenting in Valdosta, so all of us local moms can get together and have a knitting/crocheting party! Once we have a good amt finished, we can donate them, maybe to LAMP, Salvation Army...we can discuss that later on. If you'd like to help out, or donate lemme know! Or if you arent in Valdosta, perhaps you can do something similar for your community! Even if it's not homemade, donating a $3 pair of gloves from Dollar General can make a huge difference for someone in need!
