Mothers Institute Moms is a Group of Moms here at CafeMom working to build a better future for ourselves, our children, and our nation.

How are we doing that??? ... by embracing the ideas expressed in The Mothers Institute Mission Statement ... fostering a child's sense of individual freedom and personal responsibility; teaching and implementing time honored traditions including reason, logic, creativity, civility, discourse, debate and dissent; and as such promoting and supporting the philosophy of parenting we call "Radical Responsible Mothering".

Come learn more about us Mothers Institute Moms and the Days of the Week Action Items we are creating to help direct our 'think-outside-the-box" ideas, abilities, and efforts!

We are introducing ...

Mothers Institute Monday
Teaching Tuesday
Weeding Wednesday
Thrifty Thursday
and Family Friday

This is my favorite bit:

fostering a child's sense of individual freedom and personal responsibility; teaching and implementing time honored traditions including reason, logic, creativity, civility, discourse, debate and dissent; and as such promoting and supporting the philosophy of parenting we call "Radical Responsible Mothering".

I'll swing by to see all the new additions soon!

Join our weekly chats here @ CafeMom & at www.themothersinstitute.ning.com. Regional groups are now forming. I'm looking for some Ohio moms to join me to create a local network. Come check out our group & see if Mothers Institute Moms is the place for you!

beachmamaof2: I'm also fond of the portions you've highlighted :-)  ... fostering a child's sense of individual freedom and personal responsibility; teaching and implementing time honored traditions including reason, logic, creativity, civility, discourse, debate and dissent; and as such promoting and supporting the philosophy of parenting we call "Radical Responsible Mothering"

Looking forward to having you (and other moms) drop by the group, see what we've been up to, and add your input to our new endeavors!

These are such a wonderful group of moms who are creative in their ways of fostering liberty in their children. This group is greatly diverse, and respectful. It is truly a "diamond in the rough" of mothering groups.

So many times we look at debate and dissent as negative (well the media does). I am glad there is a group that is trying to raise awareness that discourse is a positive thing!!

Eilish and Pamela: Thanks for adding your observations about our Mothers Institute Moms group to this journal. Civility and discourse are indeed valuable tools as are debate and dissent. Teaching our children to utilize such tools and to recognize that conforming to an established authority or doctrine simply because it is expected of them -- when/if they truly, thoughtfully and conscientiously disagree -- is both unnatural and unwise.
