HE said WHAT????

 Yesterday I heard the president say that the 'Republicans' put through a 'bad bill' with TARP 1...and that struck me as ODD, since my recollection IS that the Congress at that time was Democrat majority. I recall SPECIFICALLY Pelosi complaining with the initial failure to pass TARP, that it was the FAULT of the Republicans, which seemed an odd statement then given that the Dems held a majority, until it was made clear that 'deals' had supposedly been struck since there was a sense that the American people were not ALL behind the move and the politicians in certain districts might 'pay' for the vote on it...In any case, there can be NO WAY that 'Republicans' can be held accountable as they didn't have the POWER to either put through or to HOLD UP any legislation then, anymore than they have now.

It seems at the time, at least Rep. Obey was willing to make the point that  "The President wouldn't have gotten to first base without the cooperation of the Democratic leadership," Rep. Obey said. "Evidently some of these guys would rather lose the economy than lose the election."

And when you look at the vote, only 95 Dems voted against it, but 133 Republicans voted against it...I don't know that you could call it a 'Republican' love fest for the TARP 1 bill. And certainly, while in the minority, you couldn't blame either the WRITING of the bill--Pelosi's responsibility--OR the passage of it onto the Republicans...they simply did not have the power or the votes. So, it's really SILLY for Obama to now blame Republicans for the poor authorship and passage of the bill.

But, on that subject, what DID he say about TARP 1 at the time?

(he voted FOR it...the vote, 74-25 had 34 Republicans among the Yeas--less than half of that vote, and 15 of the Nays, more than half, were Republican...)

And, in his own words, in the third debate...

What was that?..."I pushed for some CORE principles, making sure the taxpayers can get their money back..." Huh...so, WHY  then, is he trying to RESPEND it then? WHY is he trying make the TARP plan a 'poorly written 'REPUBLICAN' bill? He says RIGHT HERE that 'HE SUPPORTED IT'...

There are many other quotes out there, 'not ONE PENNY of taxpayer money will be spent on anything until the American taxpayer is paid back.' And similar comments. Why? Because THAT was the plan and the understanding of lawmakers, himself included, in the plan for TARP--TEMPORARY...the first word IN the acronym.

But NOW he suddenly wants to make it ALL on Republicans and 'their' bad bill, rushed through, in order to take our eye OFF of the reality that ALL of the subsequent spending, that came AFTER TARP 1 and directly UNDER him and driven through BY the Dems in Congress has NOT DONE what "IT" was supposed to do. TARP DID do what it was supposed to do which is WHY the banks are ABLE to pay the monies back, and WHY not all of it has been unlocked...there is no NEED for it. So, why doesn't he think he should live up to the 'ideal' he projected which was that the American taxpayer SHOULD BE PAID BACK, i.e. the DEBT PAID DOWN?....DEFLECTION, DEFLECTION, DEFLECTION...HIS subsequent and UNNECESSARY spending which has created NOTHING BUT DEBT and NO NEW jobs, but only 10.2% unemployment and more lost businesses has FAILED to do what he SAID IT WOULD DO, but rather than acknowledge that he wants to redefine what happened just last year, with HIS CONSENT and ENDORSEMENT and GUARANTEES of protections for the US taxpayers, AND he wants to USE the 'temporary' relief money like a revolving credit card account for MORE BIG SPENDING.

WHEN will the media hold this man to what he SAYS? WHEN will they CALL him on his about faces and open LIES about what he has said previously?

....he is SPENDING US INTO a HOLE we may NEVER SEE our way out of...

AND all while our triple AAA credit rating is at risk and the stated reason is our mounting debt!

Is it any wonder that 71% of the American population is at least somewhat ANGRY with the administration and Congress according to the latest polls?

HOw DARE you use his OWN words against him!!  HOw dare you point out where he's not CHANGE but just another typical politician!  Total transparency, like you are pointing out is NOT what he had in mind when he promised us that.  What he really wants the American people to do is have a totally short term memory and only listen to his mesmerizing voice as he reads the teleprompter.

I think the people who voted for him are content to have their attention diverted...it's so much EASIER than addressing the HUGE mistakes this man is making, and of course, the OBVIOUS lies of his campaign. Just like they voted FOR him not asking WHAT 'change', but it certainly 'sounded' like something they wanted.

I'll say it again, "NO REPRESENTATION WITHOUT TAXATION."...We wouldn't be IN this mess with this man if people who only RECEIVE tax credits from THEIR NEIGHBORS couldn't vote.
