The reality show family, the Duggars, of the TLC “18 Kids and Counting” have added a baby girl, number 19, to their brood this past Thursday at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. The baby was born via C-section prematurely weighing at 1 pound 6 ounces. The baby was due in March, but mother, Michelle Duggar recently suffered problems with her gall bladder and gallstones that were causing contraction pains. The doctors discovered another complication that prompted the early premature delivery.
The doctors who are treating the mother, Michelle Duggar, released a statement that while they were evaluating her condition for the gallstone pain, her workups showed that she was suffering from preeclampsia which causes high blood pressure and protein in the urine. They felt that high blood pressure posed a threat to the baby as well as the mother that warranted the early delivery of the baby.

My fourth daughter got kidney stones when she was 30 weeks pregnant. This did cause her to have contractions and she was in the hospital a week before the kidney stone problem resolved itself. During that week she had two scares of going into full blown labor, but with the aide of tributine labor never started. Her bladder did contract much like a uterine contraction. I can see how a gall bladder would contract too under stress. I am sure Michele Duggar did everything she possibly could before making the decision of taking the baby early vs . her own life.
God Bless that baby and the Duggars.
So they are contractions caused by another organs spasms. Ahh, yeah that can happen :(
As far as terbutaline stopping labor, it doesn't... it can stall it, but not stop it. Its also very dangerous.
Pre-E can cause placental abruption. This threatens both baby and mom. Baby is at greater risk for other problems as pre-E is caused by malnutrition.

Pre-e does not threaten the baby at all, though, just the mother. As far as I know anyways... sounds fishy to me! It would take a helluva lot to convince me to induce a baby at only 25 weeks! And how do gall stones give her contractions? Ugh, annoying article. I hope this baby survives.
