I have been very ill lately. I have been sick for over fifteen years, and the doctors have just figured out what is wrong with me. I have gastroparesis. It is an impairment of the stomach. It takes my stomach three times longer to digest foods than the normal human stomach. The doctors are baffled by this. Most people with this condition are in the late stages of life with quite a few years of diabetes behind them. I am 26 and do not have diabetes.
I was given two choices. I can either eat six small meals throughout the day. (I have been doing this since I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia.) Or I can have a pill a day for the rest of my life. However, the doctors don't think that my condition is bad enough to warrent a pill a day.
I have opted for the third choice. I found a book called 12 Steps to Raw Foods by Victoria Boutenko. Her family had many health problems and she did some research to find out how healthy people get (or stay) healthy. She found her answer. Raw Foods.
I have resolved to try this method and see if it brings about the change that I need to have my life back. I have been so sick lately that it hurts just to move. Everything hurts and I am always tired. This is no life at all. I don't think it is worth it to not be able to do anything. My poor husband is more of a care giver at this point than a husband. I will not live the rest of my life like this.
I invite all of you to join me on my daily journey through the first few months of my trial run. If it works, then it will be a life long change not just a trial run. I am hoping that posting in these journals will help me to feel more accountable for my actions and food choices.

This is so cool! I'm embarking on the raw food lifestyle in January. My story is very similar to mine. I have a vegan cousin that's been trying to convert me for years. After my health scare, no diagnosis and year of unsuccessful trial & error treatments I saw foodmatters.org. My decision was made. I'm preparing my family for the transition so Health and healing here I come! How has things been going for you?
Good luck :) It is hard to get started, but your body will run so much more efficiently. I can't wait to see your progress.....You can do this!
a couple ladies in my group (Work it out Sexy Mama) swear by eating vegan and raw. I hope you find that this helps you. Congrats on trying something other than a pill :)
