Not sure what to think about doctor's advice.

so i have a  2 yr old son who was delivered by my doctor that i now have for my 2nd child. he was great with me never any issues. however, everybody i talked to has had something bad to say about him. close family friends who are ob/gyn nurses. and friends and even family have stopped going to him due to issues during their pregnancy. however, i always felt he was a good doctor to me. so now our second child around i am 15 weeks and everything has been well. however, i go to the doctor this morning and i get my weight taken and at almost 4 months pregnant i have kept loosing weight every doctors appt. i have lost a total of 18 lbs. the doctor had noted this to me and i had intended on checking with him and ask if it was an issue. i have not been hungry and have not been craving or eating a lot. for the most part im not sick but i still have my days id say about once or maybe twice a week where im still nauseas. however i still cant seem to gain weight. i have had 6 people including the nurses at my doctor say i look skinnier. also when my doctor went to check the heartbeat it took a good 6 min to find the heart beat and THATS A LONG TIME WHEN YOUR WAITING TO HEAR A HEARTBEAT. he stopped and finally said oh ok the heartbeat is within the placenta. meaning he heard the babys heartbeat in the background of the placenta. i never heard the heartbeat what so ever. he also always checks how fast the heart rate is and tells me what it is ... this time he skipped right over it. and when i spoke with him about my weight and the babys heart rate he literally shrugged his shoulders and said its normal. no explaining anything. no telling me if i was possibly 6 months and still loosing weight it would be a problem. nothing. and i found it kind of odd. so now leaving the doctors appt my guy is telling me to get a second opinion and quick because i almost feel my babys life might not even be there at this point however i also dont know if i am jumping to conclusions on all of this like people always seem to think. i have work at 1 o clock. i have $0 money and im not kidding when i say $0. and i dont know what i should be doing or what the right thing to do is. do i go to the hospital even though it will cost me a $100 co pay which i really dont have to give. can you go to a hospital and demand an ultrasound or check up on your unborn child? i have no idea where to go from here. but my gut is telling me that was not a normal doctors appt. so im on the edge completely and pretty nervous too because i dont want something bad to happen when i could still possibly do something if that is the case.

help ladies please.

call your insurance and see what the process is for switching OB's.

 

If you don't trust this dr it will make your pregnancy stressful.

I am 21 weeks along with my 4th munchkin. I will tell you what my dr told me last month. Around 15 weeks your babys heart is about the size of a pencil eraser. So it can take some time to pick it up... Especially if its behind your placenta.

But if your dr did not answer your questions and you are doubting him, switch! Is there another dr in his "practice" that you can go to? Maybe even make another appt this week to go in and have them recheck the heart beat.

Or call your maternity ward. Ask if they would mind you stopping in and if they can check the heartbeat cause your worried about it and its gonna be....... long until your insurance change comes thru...
