My granddaughter, Nafeeza, is 3 years old.  We go to the library every week for Story Time.  This week, they had a special visitor, SANTA CLAUS!!

All the way to the library, she was a litle chatterbox, talking about what she wanted for Christmas, and how she was going to tell Santa Claus what she wanted.  We talked about sitting on his lap and telling him how old she was and what she wanted.

Well, we got to the library and the librarian had them do their little parade. They do that every week,  marching around in a circle with instruments to special music, This week was Jingle Bell Rock.

The, Santa Claus came in and read the children a story "Twas the Night Before Christmas".  She decided that the best place for her was not sitting on the floor with the librarian and the rest of the children, but in my lap, securing hanging on to Grandma's hand.

After the story, the children all got little angel and reindeer stickers and were to put them on the posterboard Christmas tree on the flannel board.  She only went up to the board with me firmly in hand.  Right, try to take a picture of your granddaughter putting an ornament on the tree next to Santa Claus with her firmly hanging on to you for dear life.

OK, we got the ornament on, and yes, I got a picture, did it one-handed.  By this time, I am figuring that sitting on Santa's lap is not going to happen.

Time for the children to line up to get on his knee and tell him what they want for Christmas.  We move up in the line.  I am prepared; I had a mimeo paper with Santa's Wish List that they gave out last week.  It is all filled out, so she doesn't have to say a word.

We're next.  I ask her if she would like to sit on Santa's knee like the other children.  She nods, and I put her on his knee.  She is not sure about it, but sits there.  He asks her what she wants for Christmas and she hands him the paper.  Smart kid!!!!  Santa then goes over the list with her.  He says "Oh, you want Mommy and Baby Little People?"  She nods.  He says " You want a rocker?'  She nods.  " He says " You want  baby doll?"  She nods.  Not a peep from her, but she nods well.

He laughs, and asks if she was a good girl.  Once again, she nods.  I nod too.  He laughs again and gives her a tiny candy cane.  She gets off his lap and comes back with me to the chairs.

BUT I GOT A PICTURE OF HER WITH SANTA CLAUS!!!!!

And she liked the candy cane.  First of my trandchildren to actually like candy canes.  Finally.

It was a fun morning, and I can't wait to take the boys this afternoon, and get pictures of them too.
