Willa Cather
The qualities of a second-rate writer can easily be defined, but a first-rate writer can only be experienced. It is just the thing in him which escapes analysis that makes him first-rate.
As an avid reader, I have to agree with the quote. Yet how does one advance from that easily defined writer, to the "only to be experienced" writer? I wish I knew the answer. Am I the first type or the second? That remains to be proven. Time will certainly tell all.

I love this quote, sweet one! Willa Cather & Flannery O'Connor are always good for a fine quote that strikes the spirit, inviting action & improvement all the way 'round.
I really don't know how to know whether one is the first sort of writer or the second. I do know when I encounter the second sort. Your work so far is so engaging that the words end before I'm quite done enjoying reading them. *wink* That, for me, puts you in the second category. *giggle* Just my humble, untutored, unsolicited opinion, darling.
Thanks for the thought-provoking Journal Post!
