The book is called A Message From God, by Retha and Aldo McPherson. I saw this on Sid Roth's show. It is an amazing story of a young boy who was near death from a car accident that nearly divided his family. His mother was a Christian but she was going through the motions, she was a"fan" of Christ not a follower in the beginning of the book. She tells the story for Aldo who is her son, she shares his conversations with God, His visions and His plans.

The Dr.s thought Aldo would die...he lived, the Dr.s thought Aldo would never speak...he spoke, the Dr.s thought Aldo would never walk...he walks, the list goes on. It is a true story of God's amazing love. We are able to share with Retha the pain she felt and how her faith grew once she was filled with the Holy Spirit. It is a tough choice anymore to know whether to buy a book or not, most times I begin to read and almost right away I find out it doesn't line up with the Word of God. I paused once in this book, but it was a minor pause. Retha says in the book that she is still growing and learning as we all are, so I was able to set aside the minor blip and move on.

At the end of the book she is stronger than ever, it has a great finish. Here is a quote: "Resist the temptation of judging others at all costs, because I will use the same measure you're using for them, to judge you. By judging others, you force Me to judge you and in this way you've opened the door for satan to pollute your spirit.Instead of judging others, I want you to bless them continuously." "Allow the Holy Spirit to prune your life and root out this critical spirit. Don't get on your high horse when you're beign pruned. Be still and know that I am God and I am in control of the pruning process too. This is how an adult child of Mine reacts to pruning." she goes on to say " It was a tough word for me, but I had to allow Him to cut away whatever was not of Him. Do you also sometimes rebel when the Gardener approaches with the pruning scissors. God wants us to bear more fruit and thus we too have to be pruned so that the fruits of the spirit will become evident in our lives."

She gives us Gal 5:22-23 to show us the fruit we should bear, " ...love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control...." She says when the Holy Spirit lives in us, we will reveal His character through these fruits. I fully agree.

I also think that these above fruits are what satan tries to still the most. Anytime I am preparing for something important that God has given me or battling a health issue, satan sends his people and they try to steal from me those fruits. Satan knows when I am about to give glory to God that he needs to block my anointing. I can't let him win, so when the car breaks down...I can't mock the car I must have peace, when the gas fills the house and we have to go outside in the cold and wait for the gas company...I can't complain and lose my joy, when the pay check is small and the bills are hug...I must have faith that God is my provider not my job, when I am busy and cleaning the house and Doug wants a hug...I need to stop my work and show him love, when Dylan is not ready and being difficult...I must show him my patience, when the people in Wal*Mart's parking lot walk out in front of my car...I must show them kindness, when no one else will help this woman...I must show her my goodness, when a non-believer is not receiving...I must show them my gentleness, and when I want to scream at Dylan because he just won't listen, when I want to analyze what someone may be thinking, when I am fasting but the food looks soooo good, when I want to stay busy with a project just a few more minutes...I must at all cost show self-control. None of those things could I do often if I was not filled with the Holy Spirit.

Just like I tell Dylan when he has a moment of uncontrolable fits or rage..."You have to ask Jesus for help, and you have to WANT Him to help you. As soon as you do, and you mean it in your heart you will be free and you will have self-control." Each time I can get Dylan to focus on asking Jesus for help, Dylan's behavior does a complete 180 and the peace is restored. Dylan teaches me so much because he sees things without all the "past experiences" that fog our spiritual eyes. Just like Retha McPherson...I too have learned a lot about God through my son. I hope you all will take the time and read this book.
