For all of my friends not on Facebook, or not keeping up on Facebook or whatever, I'd like to let you all know what's been going on in my little life since the last time I wrote a journal.
We have moved away from NC. Someday I will actually bother to update my page and let viewers see this, but for now, I just am too lazy. We are living with my parents in Montana, waiting for our house to sell in NC. We picked a bad time to put it on the market, since it went up just two weeks or so before Thanksgiving. Not prime house buying time. But whatever. I'm just glad to be gone.
Jacob is done with the Marines now. We still haven't heard back from the VA for him- though we did hear back from them on me... while we were on the road... moving out of the state.... nearly nine months after I'd filed. I was not a happy camper. Whatever, though.
Andy is three, and I just can't believe it. The little turd is getting so big, and she's so cute. I can't help but want to play with her hair.
My mom and dad are happy to have us. I think it's really helping them heal to have us close, especially with the affirmation of life that is Andy. My mom opened here up an UGMA for a college savings plan. UGMA stands for Unified Gift to Minors Account. It won't lose money like her Amerifunds thing did. I think it's awesome that my mom did that for both Andy and for Madeline.
As for me, life is about to get even busier. I'm finally starting college and have locked onto a degree in Criminal Justice, and next year I'll start a second in Broadfield Science. I did get stuck into Math 95 this term instead of Math 101 because it's just been so long since I've used anything other than simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. I know once I start with it, I'll breeze through the class, but it's better to get back up to speed with an A, then to struggle and possibly fail because I just couldn't remember quadratic equations and planes and all that sort of happy horse crap.
On the plus side, I challenged out of Writing 101 by acing their placement test. I almost aced the reading test, but there was one article that I was sitting there saying, "I have no idea what the heck they're babbling about with this topographical crap." Topography = Kitty no understand.
One odd thing that I learned while buying my books (19 credits worth of classes and all for under $300- I love you, Amazon.com) is that two of my books for History 102 (Western Civilization) are actually fictional books. Well, at least I'm assuming "The Bookseller of Kabul" is fictional considering its name. I KNOW "The Dress Lodger" is because I read the back. It's actually about a girl during the cholera epidemic in 1831 becoming a "Dress Lodger" (aka prostitute) to support herself and her infant son. It actually sounds interesting enough and I plan on having it read before classes actually start in January. I just find it odd that my history class actually calls for fiction to be read, even if it is historical fiction. Seems strange to me.
Other than that, I have one Psych class and two Sociology classes. Soci 221 I will be taking online, and it only lasts 8 weeks, so that should be simple enough.
I'm really quite content right now. I'm looking forward to classes- especially since I get to choose pretty much what I want to learn now. I want to exercise my brain. I yearn to learn! :)
Comments:
I loves you kitty. I am happy things are startingt olook up and you've gotten the heck out of NC. I'm still waiting for you to call and let me know you're stopping by to see me on your way to visit Jacob's mom. LOL
Dood, thanks for the update. I was wondering what had been going on your world.
My world is a crazy one, Fisty.
Kristi, I don't know when we'll be out next. Spring break will be spent going to my Grandma's in WI to visit. Possibly between spring and summer terms, though.
