...title quoted from Israel Houghton.

Watching tv I used to come across news channels that were showing people in third world countries running in the streets from men w/ guns. I would see pictures of bodies lined up ready for mass burial. then I would flip to another channel. At night I saw shows about starving malnourished children in another country. The children are in pain everyday of their life. They live in fear of men who come to kill them, their parents, siblings, the men rape the young girls and mother's, the beat the whole family. Some children are taken and forced to be soldiers. Watching this horror would make me cry...yet I would wimply(now I left this here as a typo because I meant to type simply but as I looked back and saw wimply....although missed spelled...it still fits better than simply) I would say" I can't stand to see this anymore." I would want to help, yet I believed that the man on tv was going to take the money for himself and the children would never see a dime of it...or maybe they would see just a dime.

I would then fall asleep in the front room of my families house and rest peacefully knowing I was safe. Later the next day you could hear me say things like " My life stinks, I never get to go anywhere, I have nothing to wear( as I stand before an overflowing closet), these shoes do not go with this outfit! Shoot I haven't done the laundry yet! There is nothing "good" to eat in this house!" ---You know what? I believe it is time we turn off our mouths, the "me, me, me" bull, and turn on our eyes and up our hearts. Maybe the man I watched was a thief...but there are people that are honest and do give all that they can of the donations straight to the people in need.

Now is where some of you will be saying what I used to say " We have starving people right here in America" You would be right....so are what are YOU doing for them???

Or maybe you are using this classic " I can barely pay MY bills!" ----oh yes that is right I forgot about the cable bill, yep very important...maybe the cell phone bills, internet, new car payment, insurance on new car payment,...tanning, hair cuts and dye jobs, nails, designer clothes etc...Either you are getting this or you are about to delete me! Either way it is all still true.

I made vow after the "Love Revolution" -Joyce Meyer conference in St. Louis. I vowed to up hold the principles of this revolution.

To take up compassion and surrender MY excuses
Stand against injustice
Commit to live out simple acts of God's Love and refuse to do NOTHING!

So please think of this too....We are all family. We came from the same creator. We are all human, should it matter id you help a family member in the US or in some part of Africa? Are we not all "man kind" ?

Don't just sit here....do Something!

God bless,

Sheri

What an awesome post - and an awesome challenge!  I know what you mean, I've often wondered sometimes when I see the men speaking on the tv, who's going to get most of the money.  All I know is that Gospel for Asia, 98 - 99% of all funds collected go straight to the missions, the workers are all volunteers, and the other 1 - 2% of the money recieved goes to postage.

Foursquare Missions also sends a VERY large amount straight to the missions, while the very small amount leftover pays the workers and postage.  Those two are the ones I'm familiar with.

Each year, our church takes a trip to a state here in the states to minister to children who's parents are too strung out on drugs and illegal substances to take care of them.  They're starving, going without fitting clothes or shoes,...some of thier parents have sold them for sex repeatedly so they could afford their drug fix.  We send them all Christmas gifts too.

You are so right, there is so much we can do, whether we have lots of money to spare or hardly none at all.  I really appreciate this post - thanks for the challenging reminder.  God bless!
